OK so a few of you might remember back in January I posted about an appeal to save and return the SS Nomadic to Belfast and for once the NI governemnt managed to do the right thing and stump up the cash.

For those that don't know the SS Nomadic was one of the tenders built by the White Star Line in Harland and Wolff to take passengers from Cherbourg out to the Olympic class liners, which included RMS Olympic and her, more famous younger, sister RMS Titanic.

Apart from her connection with the Titanic, the Nomadic is the last White Star Line ship afloat and still has most of her original fittings in place. Since she has presently been saved from being scrapped the monies raised for her purchase in the 'Save Nomadic' campaign are being put towards her restoration. As such the 'Nomadic Preservation Society' has been set up to continue the fund raising.

NOMADIC IS STILL NOT 100% SAVED YET, IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH RAISED TO RESTORE HER AS SHE SHOULD BE RESTORED, THEN NOMADIC MAY BE PUT BACK UP FOR SALE TIS TIME PROBABLY FOR SCRAP.

If interested in helping to save an important piece of the past and a direct link to the Titanic see http://www.savenomadic.com for further details or membership form.
