Back in October the Merlin cast but in an appearance at the London Expo and somebody had to mention the Slash. Admittedly Bradley hinting it was intentional while the producers back-pedalled furiously was fun but.... bear in mind at this point the production was still being wrapped up.

So we roll around to the finale and suddenly Merlin and Arthur are having their Goodbye scene (even if Merlin didn't tell Arthur that it was goodbye) on opposite sides of a large table and we have 2 Gwen/Arthur scenes when we've had one other one in the 12 preceding episodes. OK so the Arthur in Merlin's lap was nice but as Arthur spend most of the ep unconscious there wasn't much to outweigh the sudden het. *grumbles*

Yes I know Gwen (Gwenevere) marries Arthur in the end but she's only ever managed a half dozen sentences to him before and we already know he isn't the great love of her life, she's already drooled all over Lancealot so stop hitting us over the head with it.

And the Slash Dragon is now Merlin's enemy!!

Moral of this ramble, hope like hell the writers/producers have forgotten about slash and we can go back to normal service and no matter how much you love your favourite pairing don't EVER EVER mention it to the Powers that Live to Ruin Fandom!!!

I suppose they might feel they have to do something to fit with everyone's romantic ideals but really, perhaps it would have been best if the slash world kept its head below the parapet.

Season 2 is going to be no good if they are going to keep shoving Arthur and Gwen together. There definitely needs to be more Prince/manservant action.
